The African acacia is self-protecting in many ways - sharp thorns being the most obvious, the trees also create poisonous chemicals when they detect an attack. Not only can these chemicals be fatal to animals, but the trees “warn” nearby acacias to start making their own poison. When the leaves begin to fill with poison, they release a gas, which drifts out of their pores and toward nearby acacias. In response, the other trees begin to manufacture poison themselves.

We draw the designs with thread, using free motion machine embroidery. We use a normal domestic sewing machine for this "drawing with thread" technique, and each one is created individually ensuring each item is unique.

We use a natural colour hemp fabric, or black bull denim. The motif can be requested in different thread colours - our standard colours are Black, Navy, Charcoal, and Red.

Dimensions: 60x60cm is our standard size, but you are welcome to request the following sizes: 50x50cm | 60x40cm | 70x50cm (Prices will vary)

Care instructions: Machine wash at 40°C, warm iron, do not tumble dry, do not dry clean
