FUNCTIONAL ART
Do you know that all our cushions start life as a panel of plain hemp, which is hand painted, then stitched. We don't programme our designs into a fancy sewing machine, Leila literally draws with her sewing machine and thread. So each one is a functional piece of art.
We have chosen some designs and scanned and printed them - you can shop them here.

INSPIRATION FROM NATURE
We draw from nature, and stitch on fabric to create a range of timeless homeware
Come and visit our shop at The Watershed, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town; where Marylin will welcome, and offer you all the help you need.

Inspired by the Cape Fynbos that surrounds us. We design our own highly covetable textiles for discerning homeowners to appreciate the thoughtful, the unique and the sheer beauty of the process of weaving old and new.

"First I fell in love with the shimmering blue and orage of the cushions. Colours we know well in a South African landscape. I imagined a repeat image to cover my TV. Not only were Emma and Leila ready to make something they never had before, they were gracious and creative in reworking it to meet the demands of our room. Such gratitude for their willingness to go the extra mile. Love local!"

"I purchased an apron and a table runner from threads that bind us. I contacted them via DM and received an answer immediately. The beautiful items were sent to Postnet and I received them within 2 days. This is no mean feat as I live in Plettenberg Bay and courier services here is slow. On receipt of my precious parcel, my table runner and apron are both just gorgeous. Thank you threads that Bind us for an awesome service."

"Just a quick note to say how much I love your table linen range. Firstly, I love to purchase linen and napery when I travel, it is my something special that I get to use and love when I return home.
For my 50th birthday two years ago my friends spoilt me and I because I value that our friendships are bound so tenuously by threads as we journey through life, I purchased a set of 12 napkins and a protea wreath tea toowel to use as a bread cover when entertaining (way too beautiful to dry dishes with). The symbolism to me is most meaningful and the product just so beautifully South African. "
